Uses
FLUXOFENIM is used as oxime ether herbicide safener. This safener protects sorghum from the harmful effects of metolachlor. When applied as a seed treatment at 0.3–0.4 g (ai)/kg, it rapidly penetrates the seeds, accelerating the metabolism of metolachlor and maintaining the sorghum's resistance to it. If 1,3,5-triazines are present in the mixture, its activity in controlling broadleaf weeds can be increased.
Definition
ChEBI: Fluxofenim is an organochlorine compound.
Production Methods
The synthesis of fluxofenim involves the formation of a trifluoroethanimine derivative, specifically (Z)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-N-(1,3-dioxolan-2-ylmethoxy)-2,2,2-trifluoroethanimine. This is achieved through condensation reactions between 4-chlorophenyl-trifluoroacetophenone oxime and 1,3-dioxolane derivatives, under controlled conditions to ensure the correct isomeric form.
Mechanism of action
Enhances metabolism of the herbicide
