solubility  Miscible with water and with glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol (96 per cent), in fatty oils and in liquid paraffin. It forms homogeneous mixtures with wool fat and soft paraffin.

Uses
ichthammol is an anti-microbial. It is a dark sulfonated shale oil obtained via the sulfation and ammoniation of a mineral deposit distillate (shale oil). Its various constituents include saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons, nitrogen bases, acids, and thiophene derivatives.
