Incompatibilities
If this chemical gets into the eyes, remove any
contact lenses at once and irrigate immediately for at least
15 minutes, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids. Seek
medical attention immediately. If this chemical contacts the
skin, remove contaminated clothing and wash immediately
with soap and water. Seek medical attention immediately.
If this chemical has been inhaled, remove from exposure,
begin rescue breathing (using universal precautions) if
breathing has stopped, and CPR if heart action has stopped.
Transfer promptly to a medical facility. When this chemical
has been swallowed, get medical attention. Give large
quantities of water and induce vomiting. Do not make an
unconscious person vomit. Do not induce vomiting when
formulations containing petroleum solvents are ingested.
Description
Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl is a post-emergence herbicide used to control annual and perennial grasses. Fenoxaprop is a chiral molecule existing in the R- and S-forms. Fenoxaprop-P is the R-isomer. It has a low aqueous solubility and a low volatility. It tends not to be persistent in soils but, under certain conditions, may persist in water systems. Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl has a low acute oral toxicity for birds and honeybees; a moderate toxicity for mammals, earthworms, fish and aquatic invertebrates. Oral toxicity for humans is in the high-moderate class. It is also a recognised irritant.

Production Methods
The commercial production of fenoxaprop-P-ethyl involves a multi-step synthesis that begins with the preparation of key intermediates such as mercapto-6-chlorobenzoxazole and 2,6-dichlorobenzoxazole, which are then reacted to form the benzoxazole core structure. This is followed by esterification with a propionic acid derivative to yield the final ethyl ester compound.

Selective, systemic with contact action. Acetyl CoA carboxylase inhibitor (ACCase) - distrupts fatty acid biosynthesis and lipid formation.
