Description
Plaunotol is a diterpene alcohol extracted from the Thai plant, plau-noi.
teprenone (2), it is reportedly useful as a cytoprotective anti-ulcer agent.
Chemical Properties
Pale yellow oil with a fragrant, bitter taste. Soluble in benzene, acetone, alcohol, or ether, but insoluble in water. Acute toxicity LD50 for male and female mice and male and female rats (μl/kg, 1 μl equivalent to 0.95 mg of refined oil): 8800, 8180, 10900, and 11200 for oral administration; 35500, 44000, 29500, and 35000 for subcutaneous injection.
