5-Chloroquinolin-8-amine can be used as a dye intermediate.

Mix 5-chloro-8-nitroquinoline and 50% acetic acid, add iron powder, then neutralize with concentrated ammonia water to pH 8, and then obtain 5-Chloroquinolin-8-amine by steam distillation.
