2''-Methoxy-biphenyl-4-carbaldehyde

The general procedure for the synthesis of 2'-methoxybiphenyl-4-carbaldehyde from 2-methoxyphenylboronic acid and p-bromobenzaldehyde is as follows: to a round-bottomed flask fitted with a stirring magnet are added 2-methoxyphenylboronic acid (275 mmol), p-bromobenzaldehyde (250 mmol), a base (375 mmol), a catalyst of 1.0 mol/L (9.2 mg), and a solvent (4 mL) . The flask inlet was sealed with a rubber septum and the internal air was displaced by nitrogen. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for a certain time and then diluted with deionized water (5 mL) and ether (5 mL). The organic layer was separated and concentrated under reduced pressure.
