Synthesis
Graphene oxide (GO, 50 wt% by mass of indole-5-carboxylic acid) was added as indole-5-carboxylic acid (0.2 mmol) and ethanol (0.6 mmol) in ethanol or dichloroethane (DCE, 1 mL), and the mixture was transferred to a test tube equipped with a magnetic stirrer. The reaction was stirred at 100 °C for 24 h. After completion of the reaction, the GO was removed by filtration, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by column chromatography to give ethyl indole-5-carboxylate in pure form.
