UV-405, also called DXSORB 405, 2-[2-Hydroxy-4-[3-(2-ethylhexyl-1-oxy)-2-hydroxypropyloxy]phenyl]-4,6-bis(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-1,3,5-triazine,Tinuvin 405 etc., is a hydroxyphenyl triazine (HPT) UV absorber designed for high performance coatings. The low volatility,high thermal stability and extended UV absorption of UV-405 provides superior protection to coatings and light sensitive substances which are subjected to extreme processing conditions and light exposure.UV-405(DXSORB 405) has been developed as an interaction-free UVabsorber to be used in amine and/or metal-catalyzed coating systems or in coatings applied on base-coats or substrates containing such catalysts.

Tinuvin 405 is a solid triazine-based UV absorber for coatings. It was designed to meet the high performance and durability requirements of acrylic powder coatings for transportation and industrial applications. This light yellow powder is applied in high-performance automotive OEM powder coatings and high-performance industrial powder coatings. For outdoor applications, Tinuvin 405 needs to be combined with a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) such as Tinuvin 144 or Tinuvin 152.
