Pestalotin is a pyran-2-one metabolite produced by Penicillium decumbens. It has been reported to act as a gibberellin synergist and plant growth stimulator. Pestalotin has acted synergistically to enhance gibberellic acid induced elongation of the rice seedling. The compound is only weakly phytotoxic.
