1-O-Hexadecyl-sn-glycerol is a naturally occuring ether lipid. Reduces myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury. 1-O-Hexadecyl-sn-glycerol can be used to improve cellular uptake and to reduce toxicity of phosphorothioated antisense oligodeoxyribonucleotides when conjugated at the 3'-end. Inhibits cellular proliferation, anchorage-independent growth and cellular invasion in human prostate cancer cell lines.
