How to synthesize 2-Methacryloyloxy-2-methyladamantane?
The synthesis method for 2-Methacryloyloxy-2-methyladamantane is as follows: 3546 ml of n-heptane was added to a 5 L four-necked flask equipped with a stirrer, condenser, and thermometer. Stirring was initiated, followed by the addition of 126.3 g of 2-methyladamantanol, 0.022 g of the polymerization inhibitor chloranil, and 110.8 g of a basic ion exchange resin. The pH was adjusted to 7-8, and the mixture was cooled to -13°C. Then, 110.8 g of vinyl methacrylate was slowly added dropwise. The reaction was allowed to proceed for 7 hours, with the reaction progress monitored and samples taken for testing. After completion of the reaction, 1000 ml of water was added to the reaction system, and the mixture was stirred and phase separated. The organic phase was dried, concentrated under reduced pressure, and evaporated to dryness, yielding 167 g of 2-Methacryloyloxy-2-methyladamantane (93.78% yield).
