环己烯是一种环烯烃，常温下为无色、可燃、有特殊刺激性气味的液体环己烯具有烯烃的一般性质，在铀盐存在下于日光或紫外线中很快分解，在封管中于200℃长时间加热不变，在400～500℃形成苯和萘。其可用作有机合成原料，如合成赖氨酸、环己酮、苯酚、聚环烯树脂、氯代环己烷、橡胶助剂、环己醇原料等，另外还可用作催化剂溶剂和石油萃取剂，高辛烷值汽油稳定剂。
