性质描述: 白色结晶粉末。熔点109-111℃。易溶于水和乙醇。有类似蒜的臭气，味酸，有吸湿性。
用途: 生化试剂，医药，该品用作祛痰药，称痰易净，易咳静。对粘稠的痰液有分解作用。作用机理是该品分子结构中所含的巯基能使粘痰中粘蛋白多肽链中的二硫键断裂，使粘蛋白分解，降低了痰液的粘度，使之液化易于咳出。适用于急，慢性呼吸道疾病的痰液粘稠不易咳出者，以及大量粘痰阻塞而引起吸吸因难的危重症状
