Hordenine is a compound that is found in many grassy plants, grains and in some species of hallucinogenic cactus. It is chemically related to the amino acid tyramine.

Hordenine stimulates the release of norepinephrine. Norepinephrine is an excitatory hormone that energises the body and can help remove lipids(fats), from body tissue. These loose lipids are then supposed to be easier to break down.
