PACAP (1-38) free acid is an endogenous neuropeptide composed of a peptide of 38 amino acids. PACAP (1-38) free acid can effectively stimulate gastric antral motility and secretion of humoral proteins, inhibit the secretion of gastrin, and stimulate the release of vasoactive intestinal polypeptides, gastrin releasing peptides, and substance P. PACAP (1-38) free acid can also enhance N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor function and brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression through RACK1.
