It is saturated hydrocarbon which has a six membered ring-structure,and it is derived from the catalytic hydrogenation of benzene. It is usually used as a solvent for cellulosics, and exists as an intermediate during the production of nylon.It was used with ethyl acetate as an organic solvent, in dispersice solid-phase extraction, for the determination of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables.
