Thymosin-1 is an immunomodulatory polypeptide belonging to the thymic hormone group. It is produced endogenously by the thymus and increases T-cell-mediated immune response through several mechanisms, including stimulating T cell differentiation and/or maturation, activating natural killer cells and dendritic cells, and stimulating pro-inflammatory cytokine release.
Thymosin α-1 can enhance the efficacy of dacarbazine. The addition of thymosin alpha-1 to dacarbazine and interferon alpha did not cause any additional adverse effects.
