IGF-1LR3 adds 13 amino acids to the N-terminus of the intact IGF-1 molecule to form an 83 amino acid long chain IGF-1, and replaces the third amino acid glutamic acid (E) in the IGF-1 molecule with arginine (R), so it is called R3. IGF-1LR3 has a higher stability and bioactivity compared with unmodified IGF-1.
