EDTMP or ethylenediamine tetra(methylene phosphonic acid) is a phosphonic acid. It has chelating and anti corrosion properties. EDTMP is the phosphonate analog of EDTA. It is classified as a nitrogenous organic polyphosphonic acid.

Usage:
EDTMP is used as a methylene phosphonic acid cathodic corrosion inhibitor for steam boilers, as a scale inhibitor for circulating cooling water, as a stabilizer for peroxides, as a metal ion chelating agent for electroplating industry, etc. Edtmp has a more prominent cathodic protection effect than inorganic polyphosphate, and its corrosion inhibition rate is about 7 times higher. It has good scale inhibition at 200℃. The combination of EDTMP and polymaleic anhydride can effectively reduce the scale formation rate. The concentration of EDTMP as scale inhibitor alone is 10mg/L, the concentration of EDTMP as corrosion inhibitor alone is greater than 100mg/L, and the concentration of EDTMP combined with low molecular mass scale inhibitor is less than 5mg/L. The combination of EDTMP and sodium gluconate can clean and treat the metal surface to remove the grease on the metal surface. In addition, the high purity grade EDTMP can be used as a cleaning agent for semiconductor chips in the electronics industry; Used in the pharmaceutical industry as a carrier of radioactive elements for the examination and treatment of diseases; EDTMP has a strong ability to chelate metal ions, and the complex constant with copper ions is the largest among all chelators, including EDTA, and EDTMP can be used as an alternative in almost all places where EDTA is used as a chelator. EDTMPA has a strong ability to chelate metal ions, and the complex constant with copper ions is the largest of all chelators, including EDTA. EDTMPA can be used instead in almost all places where EDTA is used as a chelating agent.
