Purpose
It is mainly used for making medicine, pesticide and resin. [1]
It is mainly used as the third monomer of EPDM.
DCPD is mainly from C5 fraction of kerosene or petroleum cracking, which can be regarded as a primary raw material without organic synthesis. Another advantage of DCPD is its active polymerization performance. It can basically enter into the copolymer in the process of ethylene propylene copolymerization. However, due to its slow vulcanization speed of EPDM, it is rarely used in industrial production.
DCPD has two isomers, endo and exo, which are usually obtained from endo and converted into exo through special conversion methods.
