This compound creates light through the process of oxidative decarboxylation by luciferase while ATP is present. In cell culture, D-Luciferin Potassium Salt is used to achieve highly sensitive bioluminescence detection. Recently, Luciferin was used to measure the uptake of mRNA in preparation of the vaccine against COVID-19.
