Cefoperazone sodium is the third-generation cephalosporin. It is effective against Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Salmonella typhi, Shigella, Citrobacter and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The bacteria have good antibacterial effects, but have poor effects on Enterobacter aerogenes, Enterobacter cloacae, Typhimurium and Acinetobacter. Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis are highly sensitive to this product. This product also has a good effect on various groups of streptococcus and pneumococcus, and only has a moderate effect on Staphylococcus (methicillin-sensitive strain), and is resistant to Enterococcus. Cefoperazone has a good effect on most gram-positive anaerobes and some gram-negative anaerobes. Bacteroides fragilis is resistant to this product. When the meninges become inflamed, they can enter the cerebrospinal fluid.
