Cefmetazole sodium is an organic compound with the chemical formula of C15H16N7NaO5S3. It is a semi synthetic cephalosporin derivative. Its antibacterial activity is similar to that of the second generation cephalosporins. The drug also has good antibacterial activity against some cephalosporin resistant strains, staphylococcus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, indole negative or positive Proteus, Bacteroides fragilis Digestive cocci (including Peptostreptococcus) have strong antibacterial activity. cefmetazole is not absorbed after oral administration and can only be used for intravenous administration.
