Argatroban is a synthetic anticoagulant and a reversible competitive thrombin inhibitor. It has a strong selective inhibitory effect on thrombin and inhibits platelet aggregation caused by thrombin. The inhibitory effect on fibrin is weak. In vitro, inhibits thrombus generated in various thrombosis models.
