It is an intermediate of halogenated quinoline antiamoeba drugs, including quiniodoform, chloroiodoquinoline, diiodoquinoline, etc. These drugs exert anti-amoeba effects by inhibiting intestinal symbiotic bacteria, and are effective against amoeba dysentery, but have no effect on extrenteral amoeba. In recent years, it has been reported that this class of drugs can cause subacute spinal optic neuropathy, so the drug has been banned in Japan and the United States, and the disease caused by diiodoquinoline is less common than chloroiodoquinoline. 8-hydroxyquinoline is also an intermediate of dyes and pesticides. Its sulfate and copper salt are excellent preservatives, disinfectants and anti-mildew agents. It is a complexometric indicator for chemical analysis.
Application:
1 Used as a reagent for the determination of bismuth, magnesium, copper, zinc and organic element nitrogen; Used as a pharmaceutical intermediate, it is the raw material for synthesis of keroxylenin, chloroiodoquinoline and pumezin, and is also an intermediate of dyes, pesticides and extractants.
2 Pharmaceutical intermediates; Pesticides, dye intermediates.
3 Precipitators and extractants for precipitation and separation of metal ions.
