For pharmaceutical intermediates, organic synthesis.
Uses for pharmaceutical intermediates, also used in organic synthesis
The production method is synthesized from methyl salicylate ([119-36-8]) and iodoethane, and then obtained by hydrolysis and acidification. Sodium metal, methyl salicylate and ethyl iodide were successively added to anhydrous methanol, and heated to reflux for 10h. Methanol and iodoethane were recovered, poured into cold water, and the oily substance was separated. Washed with water and 5% sodium hydroxide solution to pH=7, extracted with ether, dried with anhydrous carbon Chemicalbook sodium, refluxed with ether, and then distilled under reduced pressure to obtain methyl o-ethoxybenzoate. It was added to 5% sodium hydroxide solution and refluxed for 2-3 h, allowed to cool, and the unreacted ester was extracted with ether. The extracted aqueous solution was acidified with hydrochloric acid, and the oil layer was washed with water. Add 5% sodium hydroxide to dissolve, filter and then acidify with hydrochloric acid to get the oil layer, freeze and crystallize the crude product. The acidified water layer can be extracted with ether, and some crude products can also be obtained. The crude product is distilled under reduced pressure to obtain the finished product o-ethoxybenzoic acid.
