Phenol Red sodium salt

Phenol red, also known as phenol sulfonyl phthalide, is a dark red crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water, alcohol and acetone. It is almost insoluble in ether and chloroform, and soluble in alkali hydroxide or alkali carbonate solution. It is dark red and stable in air. It is used as acid-base indicator and biochemical research.
