Arbutin
Shape: This product is white or almost white crystalline powder. Soluble in water and ethanol.
Mechanism of action:
The melanin in human skin is produced by dendritic melanocytes in the basal cell layer of the epidermal layer histologically. In terms of biochemistry, although the production and formation of melanin is very complex, it has been understood through recent studies. During the occurrence and formation of melanin, tyrosinase, a biological oxidase in the skin, plays a catalytic oxidation role. If the catalytic oxidation activity of tyrosinase is inhibited, the production of melanin will be inhibited, and the skin will slowly become white and tender. Arbutin was identified as an effective tyrosinase inhibitor in the 1990s. It has a very good decolorization effect on freckles, iris (also known as liver spot chloasma and pregnancy spot) and pigmentation, skin pigmentation hyperplasia, the effective rate is up to 90%.
Security:
In the level test of B16 melanoma cells, arbutin inhibited melanin formation and reduced tyrosinase activity at concentrations that did not affect cell proliferation. No harmfulness, irritation, sensitization and other side effects were found in mice. Arbutin is a safe and reliable skin decolorization component.
Stability:
Arbutin is unstable and easily hydrolyzed under acidic conditions. Arbutin aqueous solution and low iron or high iron formed water soluble light black complex; It can precipitate with basic lead acetate. Therefore, it is required that the electrical conductivity of water added to the formula should be less than 10. Guar gum should not be added to the formula with arbutin, otherwise its stability will be affected. Adding a moderate amount (generally 1 ~ 3%) of vitamin E to the formula can stabilize it. Adding appropriate amount of sodium bisulfite to the formula can prevent the paste from discoloration.
Should use: suitable for whitening, skin care, freckle removal and other advanced cosmetics.
Reference Dosage: Dissolve 0.5 ~ 3% of the product in 4 times of its deionized water, heat to 60℃ and add to the emulsified cream.
Keep airtight, cool and away from light. It is valid for 3 years.
