4-heptanol has pungent and rather harsh, but in proper
dilution floral and pleasantly green odor.

4-heptanol has been suggested
for use in perfume compositions to support
floral notes, mainly with Terpineol and other
low-cost ingredients for masking odors and
industrial fragrances.
4-heptanol can be produced by hydrogenation of Dipropylketone
(or Di-iso-propylketone).
