According to one literature source, radium bromite
(also known as “Radium-Bromatum”) has been used
to treat mange-spots on dogs. The reason to use a radioactive
chemical is not known except that radiumbromite
is both radioactive and oxidative. Radium bromite is not
available commercially and does not have a CAS
number.
In view of the intense radioactivity of 226Ra, there has
been little incentive to prepare this salt. Radium Bromite can be
prepared by the same methods used for its barium
homologue, namely:
RaCl2+ NaBrO2→Ra(BrO2)2+ 2NaCl
