Determination of boron. 1,1'-Dianthrimide is used as a 0.02% solution in Concentrated H2SO4. The olive-green solution turns blue in the presence of boron. The blue solution has an absorption max at 620 nm. Also used in the determination of silicon.
1,1'-Dianthraquinonylamine ,
dianthrimide, is prepared
by reacting 1-aminoanthraquinone with 1-
chloroanthraquinone in nitrobenzene
or water . Also from 1-aminoanthraquinone
and 1-nitroanthraquinone .
Crystallise anthrimide from chlorobenzene (red needles) or nitrobenzene (red rhombs). It is poorly soluble in organic solvents. [Eckert & Steiner Monatsh Chem 35 1129 1914.]
