Myclobutanil Hydroxide is an impurity of Myclobutanil M831400). Myclobutanil is a fungicide used on a wide range of food crops. Myclobutanil inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a critical componet of fungal cell membranes.
Myclobutanil hydrochloride is synthesised through a multi-step chemical process that begins with the preparation of key precursors such as 1-bromo-2-cyano-2-(4-chlorophenyl)hexane, which undergoes nucleophilic substitution with 1,2,4-triazole to form the core fungicidal structure. This intermediate is then subjected to further purification and crystallisation steps to yield high-purity myclobutanil. To produce the hydrochloride salt form, myclobutanil is reacted with hydrochloric acid under controlled conditions.
Broad-spectrum, systemic with protective, eradicative and curative action. Disrupts membrane function by inhibiting sterol biosynthesis.
