Atificial Cow-bezoar is used as according to historical records of herbal medicine and the experience of traditional Chinese medicine, the value of bezoar lies mainly in: treating febrile diseases with high fever, convulsions, and other symptoms, it has the effects of calming wind, relieving spasms, and clearing heat; treating stroke, infantile convulsions, epileptic convulsions, and delirium with lockjaw. It has the effects of clearing heat, calming wind, and opening the orifices. For example, Angong Niuhuang Wan (安宫牛黄丸) uses bezoar in combination with Coptis chinensis, Gardenia jasminoides, musk, borneol, etc., and is used for heat invading the pericardium, delirium, and coma in children, as well as stroke, convulsions, and orifice obstruction; it is used for sore throat, erosion, carbuncles, and boils caused by heat toxicity; and it is used to treat malignant diseases, unexplained swelling and pain, and red and swollen boils.
