Description

C12 NBD Lactosylceramide is a lactosylceramides derivative that is tagged with a fluorescent group C-12 nitrobenzoxadiazole. Lactosylceramide is a precursor of many glycosphingolipids and acts as a second messanger. C12 NBD Lactosylceramide is useful for identification of lactosylceramides.

Uses

C12 NBD Lactosylceramide is a derivative of Lactosylceramide labeled with a C12 NBD fluorescent group. C12 NBD Lactosylceramide can be used to identify Lactosylceramides[1].

Biological Activity

Lactosyl ceramide plays a key role in signaling cascades leading to phenotypic changes such as adhesion, migration, cell proliferation, and angiogenesis. In vertebrates, lactosyl ceramide is a major precursor for biosynthesis of glycosphingolipids involved in various vital cellular processes. Lactosyl ceramide is also known to be crucial for mediating osteoclastogenesis.
