Azoluron is an obsolete plant growth regulator. It is moderately soluble in water and may be persistent in soil systems depending on local conditions. No information is available on its ecotoxicology. It has a low oral mammalian toxicity.
Commercial production information on azoluron is extremely limited, but its structure strongly implies that its manufacture followed the same route used for other phenylurea plant growth regulators: preparation of the pyrazolyl amine intermediate, conversion of an aniline derivative into the corresponding isocyanate, and then condensation of the amine with the isocyanate to form the urea bond.
