This alkaloid is a minor constituent of Voacanga africana and yields colourless
crystals from MeOH. It is laevorotatory with [α]20D - 45° (c 0.44, CHCl3) and
gives an ultraviolet spectrum consisting of two absorption maxima at 225 and
295 mμ.
