Europium Nitrate, newly developed materials, mainly used as a phosphor activator in the red phosphor in colour TV tubes and Europium-activated Yttrium vanadate; Europium-doped plastic is a laser material. It is a dopant in some types of glass in lasers and other optoelectronic devices. It is also used in the manufacture of fluorescent glass.
Europium(III) nitrate hexahydrate is used in the preparation of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and other chemical products. It is used as a catalyst and a component of specialized steels. It is also used in the synthesis of light emitting nanomaterials.
Colorless to pale-pink crystals, mp 85C (sealed tube), soluble in water, obtained by treating the oxide with nitric acid.
