Silver benzoate can be obtained by reacting silver nitrate and sodium benzoate:
AgNO3 + PhCOONa → PhCOOAg↓ + NaNO3
Reaction: Mix an equimolar amount of silver nitrate solution with sodium benzoate solution to precipitate silver benzoate. Washed with water and dried in a vacuum desiccator.
