Chlorazifop propargyl is an obsolete herbicide. Little data is available regarding its environmental fate, ecotoxicology or impacts on human health.
Chlorazifop propargyl is commercially produced by via a process that begins with the preparation of chlorazifop acid, a phenoxypropionic acid derivative containing a dichloropyridinyl moiety. This acid is then reacted with propargyl alcohol in the presence of a suitable acid catalyst or coupling agent to yield the propargyl ester.
Selective, systemic, absorbed by leaves. Inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), an enzyme crucial for fatty acid synthesis in plants.
