The general procedure for the synthesis of 3,6,9,12-tetraoxatetradecane-1,14-diamine from the compound (CAS:109789-39-1) is as follows: 9.1 mmol of methanesulfonyloxy-diethyleneglycol-methanesulfonate (MsO-PEG2-OMs) was dissolved in an appropriate amount of dichloromethane. To this solution, excess ammonia and 2 mmol of tetrabutylammonium bromide were added as a phase transfer catalyst, followed by stirring the reaction at 45 °C for 12 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by rotary evaporator and then purified by distillation under reduced pressure to afford the target product 3,6,9,12-tetraoxatetradecane-1,14-diamine (NH2-PEG4-NH2) in a yield of 7.64 mmol and 84%.
