以4,4'-二甲基-2,2'-联吡啶为原料合成2,2'-联吡啶-4,4'-二甲酸的一般步骤：将1.0 g（5.4 mmol）的4,4'-二甲基-2,2'-联吡啶加入反应烧瓶中，缓慢滴加18 mL浓硫酸并搅拌。此过程伴随大量放热，待溶液冷却至室温后，加入3.3 g（11.3 mmol）重铬酸钾，溶液随即变为深绿色。随后，将反应混合物于65℃下搅拌反应6小时。反应完成后，冷却至室温，将反应物倒入1000 mL水中，立即产生大量白色絮状沉淀。通过抽滤收集沉淀，依次用水和甲醇洗涤，直至滤液澄清。最后，将所得白色固体在60℃下真空干燥18小时，得到目标产物，产率为98%。
