White powder. Melting point 276-278°C (decomposition). Soluble in water, slightly soluble in anhydrous alcohol.

Used as an intermediate for dyes.
Synthesis
3-Methyl-2-benzothiazolino hydrazone hydrochloride was prepared by methylation, condensation of 2-aminobenzothiazole and then salified with hydrochloric acid.
