1,2-Bis(4-vinylphenyl)ethane (p,p'-Divinyl-1,2-diphenylethane) is a colorless liquid with a molecular formula of C26H24 and a molecular weight of 336.47g/mol. It has a density of about 1.04g/cm3, a melting point of -27°C and a boiling point of 258°C. The compound is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and xylene.
1,2-Bis(4-vinylphenyl)ethane is used as a chemical reagent and intermediate. It is often used in organic synthesis to synthesise various polymers, resins and surface coatings. In addition, it is used as a cross-linker and plasticiser for certain rubbers and plastics.
