Cimicifugoside, a triterpenoid extracted from Cimicifuga simplex, is a novel specific nucleoside transport inhibitor that synergistically enhances the cytotoxic effect of methotrexate. It has immunosuppressive activity that preferentially targets B cell function, requiring larger doses to inhibit T cell function.
