(-)-Alloaromadendrene

Alloaromadendrene, an antioxidant, can be isolated from the leaves of mixed-type C. osmophloeum. Alloaromadendrene protects C. elegans against oxidative stress induced by walnut quinone and prolongs the life of C. elegans[1].

Fractionally distil it from Na. It has IR bands at 6.06 and 11.27_ due to C=CH2. [Birch J Chem Soc 715 1953, cf Büchi et al. J Am Chem Soc 91 6473 1969.]
