The synthesis of Tetramethylfluthrin is achieved through the mono-etherification of 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroterephthalyl alcohol with methyl chloride under alkaline conditions to yield 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-(methoxymethyl)benzyl alcohol; subsequently, 2,2,3,3-tetramethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid is converted into its more reactive acid chloride form, which then undergoes an esterification reaction with the aforementioned benzyl alcohol intermediate in an anhydrous solvent in the presence of triethylamine; finally, the target product is obtained following washing, concentration, and purification via vacuum distillation or column chromatography.
