In a dry reaction flask, the biphenyl palladium dimer precursor compound (277 mg) was added, followed by adamantane butylphosphine ligand (269 mg). The flask was then sealed, evacuated with argon gas, and backfilled three times. Degassed acetone (3 mL) was added to the flask via a syringe, and the resulting reaction mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. After the reaction was complete, the reaction mixture was filtered under vacuum, and the precipitate was collected. The precipitate was washed sequentially with acetone and pentane to obtain the target catalyst. Note that this catalyst is sensitive to oxygen; post-processing should be rapid to avoid direct contact with air as much as possible.
