Fenasulam is used in sulfonamide herbicidal compositions. A pesticide and an antiparasitic agent.

The commercial production processes for fenasulam is is not described in the open literature but its chemical class and historical period allow the commercial route to be inferred. Typical production would have followed standard carbamate formation chemistry, in which an appropriate phenoxy or heteroaryl substituted precursor is reacted with carbamoyl chloride or an equivalent carbamoylating agent to generate the active carbamate structure. The resulting technical grade material would then be purified and milled for formulation into agricultural products
