MCPA olamine is produced by first synthesizing the parent acid MCPA through the usual sequence, chlorination of para-cresol, carboxylation to the phenoxyacetic acid, and purification of the resulting technical grade herbicide. The olamine salt is then formed in a dedicated neutralisation step where MCPA acid is reacted with monoethanolamine in aqueous solution under controlled pH and temperature, yielding a highly water-soluble amine variant.
Mechanism of action
Selective, systemic with translocation. Synthetic auxin.
