α,β-Methyleneguanosine 5′-diphosphate (GPCP; GMPCP) is a GDP methylene analog used to study vinblastine-induced self-association of tubulin. GMPCP is used as an alternative to calcium to produce helical tubes that support bacterial division via assembly of cytokinetic ring structures, Z-rings. GMPCP may be used in comparison with the more slowly hydrolyzed analog guanylyl-(α,β)-methylene-diphosphonate (GMPCPP).
